What is Slavery?
Slavery means when one person has absolute power over another person and controls his or her life, liberty and fortune.It had first started as an indentured servant because they had to work over somebody's power.Indentured servant means when a person first comes to America and was being placed under a contract to work for another person over seven years.Then the people started shipping the slaves to North America.Once the slaves got to North America, the white people started selling them to make some profit out of them.Once the master had gotten the slave he or she could do whatever the master wanted to do to the slave.The slaves didnt get paid for what they did they were treated like material objects to be bought and sold at markets.
How slaves were treated
The master would depend how to treat a slave depending on their age, looks, strength and attitude.The slaves had to obey to their master if they didnt obey then the master whip the slave on his or her back.If a slave didnt want to behave good then they would get punished.If a slave talks back to his or her master then they would get whipped or they miet get arrested.Slaves didnt have the right to say where they wanted to live or who they wanted live with or work for.The slaves didnt even have one right to do whatever they wanted to do.They had to ask their master for permission to let them do whatever they needed to do.
Slaves work
Slaves would get like 250 jobs in one day, if they didnt feel like doing their job then they would get whipped. The woman would mostly work inside the house with the masters wife.The masters wife would keep an eye on her to see if she is doing her job correctly.The woman had to make that everything is so clean and to help the masters wife out.If the woman just felt like being so lazy then she would get whipped.Men mostly did the war ship rower because it is a deadly job to do.Incase the ship would have sink then mostly all of the slaves would die.About 50-60 slaves would fit in one boat.The slaves would have to sit in order in one bench so they can row the boat. The men and the woman both did the fields because they are just planting food and it wasnt such a deadly job to do. If a slave destroys the master crop he/she would get whipped or even sold to another person that kills slaves for fun
Slaves cost
Slaves had different cost depending if they were young or old. If the slaves were young then they would be sold at million dollars because they have alot of energy and they can get the work done on time.The slaves that were old, they wont have much a value because they dont have a mind like a a young slave.The old slave would have less energy and would be forgeting things.Old slaves would cost less than the young ones.
